These were carved by the tribes that lived along the Pacific North West Coast of the US and Canada and were sold as tourist souvenirs to generate income. This is a lovely Victorian example and, although most of the paint has work=n off over the last century, the highlighting is still visible in red and black. The bone has gained a lovely deep colour and a rich patina over the years. On the back there
