King Diamond is well known for his themes of the occult and demonic stories, as well as his drive towards atmospheric horror scenarios and changing masks. King Diamond is one of the most outstanding personalities of today's metal scene. With Mercyful Fate and King Diamond he wrote metal-history and is an important part of the scene for decades. Since 1986 King has released many classic horror metal albums, which because of their outstanding storylines and musical variety are unique in the hard rock scene.
King Diamond's fifth studio album 'The Eye' was released in 2003. The album tells a dark, supernatural story based on real events from the French Inquisition. Featuring high-pitched vocals, heavy metal riffs, and haunting melodies, 'The Eye' is known for its historical horror themes, religious hypocrisy commentary, and songs like "Eye of the Witch" and "The Trial (Chambre Ardente)". The album is notable for its blend of factual horror and fantasy, using real historical figures and events to weave a tale of witchcraft and the Catholic Church's atrocities.
